valentines day: ideas for cards, candy, and fun

by amy on February 7, 2011

Valentine’s Day is around the corner–here’s the teachmama round-up, the throwback post!

Before I share this year’s Valentines, (okay, so they’re not finished yet–you got me!), I thought I’d go flashback for tonight and highlight some of our Valentine’s Day fun from years past. . .

. . . some of these activities are so cute that they’re totally worth bringing back into the mix.   And if you only have a second to sneak in some early reading skills, make your kiddos work a bit for their Valentine’s from you!

these are so cute, it’s nuts

pink, sparkly, and full of hearts and people we love

  • Our Love Tree: This year it’s been too wet to even think about bringing sticks into our house, but I think we’ll do some variation come spring.

stained glass hearts

  • Stained Glass Hearts: on sunny days, nothing was more beautiful if you ask me. I’d like to keep them up all year.

patterns and counting and hearts, oh my!

  • Candy Heart Patterns: any way to play with candy is worthwhile in my book–and if you can sneak in  a little math disguised as fun–even better!

And that’s it from this not-all-that-crafty crafter until the hearts and glitter and stamps and tattoos (yes, tattoos!) start flying in a Valentine’s-makin’ frenzy in the next few days!  Cheers!

If you found something–or  you’ve done something cool for Valentine’s day, please share a link here!

Or consider taking a  jump on over to we teach, join the forum, and check out what the we teach: crafts, we teach: holidays, and other groups are doing in the spirit of Valentine’s Day!  See you there!

I was looking for something to do with the candy hearts that I bought. I am a teacher of a preschool co-op so this should be perfect for the little kids. THANKS!

Fun!! “C” picked out tattoo valentines this year, she didn’t want mommy’s homemade ones. “E” and I are still making homemade for her class this year.
