3 cool kids 3 cool books | what we are reading

It’s hard to find books that work for your kids.

I totally get it.

So every so often, I’m going to share 3 cool kids, 3 cool books: what we’re reading now.  It’s a quick look at the books that my kids, Maddy (age 9), Owen (age 8), and Cora (age 6) are digging.

It’ll be a vlog, because they’re quicker for me.

And you’ll get the insider’s scoop–why my kids like the book or series and why I like the book or series.  As an avid reader, a former high school English teacher, a Master’s Degree in Reading, you better believe I have some ideas.

Above all, though, I am a normal parent who really just wants my kids to enjoy reading.

So here’s the skinny. . .

  1. Thought I’d share a couple of things with you. First, I read very recently that Barbara Park passed away. Wasn’t sure if you or your readers knew, but just in case I wanted to add it in.

Second are my kids choices of series right now.
Annabelle, 9, is is devouring The Mysterious Benedict Society series. She can’t get enough of them. She also recently enjoyed the Sew Zoey series about a girl who sews and starts a fashion blog. It’s also not a challenging series, but my daughter really enjoyed it because it included two things she wants to do…sew and blog.

Jeb, 7 just this week, is really liking the I Survived series. They are based on real events and he just can’t put them down.

And Henry, 5, is reading the Black Lagoon chapter books. They crack him up and is constantly laughing at the main character. Very cute books.

Well, that’s it. I haven’t commented in a while, but am always reading and watching. Have a great Thanksgiving!

    • BRANDY!! Missed you, my friend! Hope you are well!! I cam SO with you on the ‘I Survived’ series–Owen loves those, too. The Mysterious Benedict Society are totally new to me–will def check them out! Henry is a rockin 5 yo to be plowing through those books. GOOD job, Henry!!

Hope you are all doing well. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! *hugs!*

  2. I discovered your through Pinterest. My son has read all of the Galaxy Zack books and waiting on the next book release. He has recently started the Captain Awesome series. He was a reluctant reader until we discovered Galaxy Zack and he flew through the series. Love your site!

    • Miranda!
THANK YOU!! I appreciate your kind words–really do. I am not familiar with the Galaxy Zack books at all but will definitely check them out! Many, many thanks and let’s stay in touch!!
