Woo-hooo! Finally–Fire Station tour day!!
Our tour this month was of our local fire station, and all of the kiddos enjoyed it (aside from a cranky, teething, poison-ivy-on-her-tiny-foot Cora, that is).
We had a huge, fun group–about 20 children and 12 moms from our local MOMS Club attended, so the talented firefighters answered smart questions from both the moms and kids and showed us around the bunk room, dining room, workout room, and–of course–the fire and pump trucks!!
We also got to see how a fire fighter puts on and takes off his heavy, protective uniform. Although the mask and clothes solicited tears from a few little ones, we all agreed on the importance of our children seeing the gear on and hearing the loud breathing through the mask.
It’s so awesome for our little ones to continually learn about fire safety and to be familiar with what a fire fighter looks like in his–or her–uniform. And almost every little one loves to see a fire truck up close. What a great day!
As always, we are grateful for the kindness of the businesses in our area, and we’re always looking for fun places to visit and learn about–especially those that are close to us so that our children can really get to know the people in their ‘hood.
Next month’s tour. . . our recycling center! We’re already looking forward to it!
