easy snowman footprint craft for kids | teachmama.com

I am so thankful that my sister and her boys have been on a cool and crafty streak, because lately my kids and I haven’t been feeling the crafty pull.

After our wild tween crafts, crafts for gifts, and crafts to wear, it seems as though we’ve been on a short craft hiatus.

It’s all good.

I’m thrilled to share this sweet and easy snowman footprint craft for kids, compliments of my amazing sister and her two crafty boys.

It’s a great last-minute gift for grandparents, for playdates, or for something fun to do on a winter weekend.

Here’s the skinny. . .

Easy Snowman Footprint Craft for Kids:ย

Use the links to make buying these supplies super easy for you. All links are affiliate links, which means that if you use them, teachmama.com will get a teeny, tiny percentage of the sale which helps us keep this site free for everyone. ย Yay.

Thank you, Jenny, for this post.

Here’s to hoping one of these sweet snowman footprint pictures ends up under my Christmas tree this year.

What you need:

  • mini canvasย (Use whatever size works best for you, depending on how many little snowmen you want to make!)
  • light blue spray paintย
  • glitter
  • white washable paintย
  • paint brushes
  • colorful card stock
  • glueย (You can use regular glue, but a glue gun will make it quicker for you.)
  • thin black marker

Here’s how:

Step 1: Spray paint.

Spray paint the canvas with light blue spray paint.

In order for the white footprint to stand out, the canvas should be a different color, so I chose a light blue. Immediately after I sprayed the canvas, I sprinkled someย very fine white glitter on the wet paint to give it a shimmery snowy look. Let it dry.ย

Step 2: Foot prints!

This is obviously the tricky part–for me at least.

I have one kid who dislikes getting messy and one I have to keep a close eye onorย else he’d be covered inย paint from head to toe and running around the house!

I tried to keep it easy by pouring the paint onto a paper plate. I had the boys step into the paint then *gently* place their foot on the canvas.

I did one kid at a time and washed their feet as soon asย their prints were done. I had paint brushes to wipe off excess and to help form the snowman a little better. Let dry.ย

Step 3: Dress your snowmen!

I used colorful cardstock that I had on hand, but you can really use anything.

I cut the cardstock into scarves, hats, and nosesย then glued themย on. I used regular oldย Elmer’s glue which ended up being a bit tricky; nextย time I’ll probably use a glue gun soย it dries faster. Let dry.ย

Step 4: Add some details and finishing touches!

I used a fine black marker to draw our snowmen’s eyes, mouth, and arms. Then I added the boys’ names and viola!

We were done! Super easy and beautiful gift for the grandparents that they can use to decorate every year!ย

How cute are these?

And there you have it, friends–super cute and easy. Though you have to be patient and let it dry in between steps.

Thank you, Jenny, for sharing your craftiness with us!

I started my teaching career at @hcpss_wlhs โ€” a place packed with really awesome educatorsโ€” and @eric.ebersole.for.maryland was one of them!

LOOK at us now! Delegate Ebersole is moving mountains in Annapolis!

It was so cool to run into my friend while Iโ€™m here with @momsdemand โค๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธ
