Welcome to the world, little book.

I feel like I need cake and ice-cream and party hats and dancing.

Lots and lots of dancing.

Because today is the birthday of Raising a Rock-Star Reader: 75 Quick Tips to Help Your Child Develop a Lifelong Love of Reading.

Super-big title for a totally awesome book, if I do say so myself.

I’m partying it up over here on the east coast while my co-author and partner in crime, Allison McDonald is partying it up over there on the west coast. So basically it’s an all day celebration of sorts. And everyone is invited.

at our first-ever book signing — thank you to Kimberly Tate for this photo

We’ve even got a fun giveaway on each of our blogs. Even though we want to give every, single one of you a copy of our book, we’re giving one person a copy of Raising a Rock-Star Reader and five books from the winner’s choice of booklist.

So that’s super fun–and just in time for the holidays.

Here’s the skinny. . .

It’s Finally Here! Raising A Rock-Star Reader:

I’m sure you probably already know this, but you guys–books are hard to write.  They take a lot of time. A lot of time. And even when you think  you’re finished, you’re not.

Because the editing is crazy.

And then there’s the marketing.  Trying to share the news of your soon-to-be new baby.

It’s like a full-time job.

So the reason our house is a wreck and we still have Easter decorations on our front door even though it’s November (I totally just took Halloween spiders down–I’m only kidding) is because this little booky-book has taken quite a bit of time to bring to the world.

But the thing is–this book is awesome.

It’s really and truly awesome. And I couldn’t be more proud of every second, every minute of time that was put into it, from start to finish.

And though it has truly been a motherload of work, it’s been a labor of love. A whole lot of fun to do and an exciting adventure for my pal Allison and me.

But don’t take our word for it. Sure, we may be a bit biased.

It’s been in the Top 10 on the Amazon Hot New Releases for its category (Reading & Phonics) –yay!

THANK YOU, @imse_og for the best. training. ever!!

WHERE on earth did this week go? It completely flew by!

Our instructor, Becky Strimple, was AWESOME. I am officially hooked on the #OrtonGillingham method, and I am already looking at the next IMSE course I can take to get me closer to Comprehensive OG Plus Certification.

Day 4 of OG Training, and this 5 second video doesn’t even scratch the surface of what we covered.

I have participated in dozens and dozens and dozens of trainings over the course of my career—and throughout my own education—but hands down this is the best one I have ever had.

Every educator should take this. I don’t have the faintest idea why it’s not required for every edu degree.

It’s not only a look at the best ways to teach decoding and encoding, but it’s a study of the English language as well. It’s wild.

Not. Even. Kidding.

I have wanted to take this training for YEARS and years, and after DAY 1, I’m already psyched for tomorrow.

If you have taken the @imse_og training (Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Plus), what was your experience?
