I had the amazing opportunity a few weeks back to attend my first-ever Blogalicious Conference, so this New For Us Friday, I’m sharing just a teeny bit of that incredible experience, (and yes, I’m aware that I’m a few steps behind).
Not only was the conference top-notch from start to finish, but I learned more during the sessions that I attended than I ever imagined, and I can barely wait to bring to life what I learned.
Organized and created by one of my best pals, Justice Fergie and her law school buddy the amazing partner Justice Ny, these two fabulous women comprise The Social Niche which covers just about everything awesome from Blogalicious Weekend to BeBlogalicious blog, to the Blogalicious Guides, to the Blogalicious Community.
- Blogalicious Weekend — Blogalicious Weekend is an event organized by that celebrates the diversity of women of all ethnicities in social media. It’s an event that brings together women of all levels of expertise, from all parts of the country, from all walks of life. It is an event for everyone, and I felt more support and positive energy and enthusiasm there than I had felt anywhere in a long time.
Held this year at the gorgeous Gaylord National Resort and Conference Centerย near Washington, DC, the entire weekend was filled with education, support, connecting, networking, and tons of fun. It was–hands down–an event that I will forever add to my calendar and make a priority in my planning.
While there were numerous sessions at Blogalicious that were incredibly informative and worthwhile–from mobile blogging to creative monetizing to designing apps and working with brands, there were also dozens of companies present with that I look forward to creating meaningful and lasting relationships. I met tons of people whom I have long admired and respected for their accomplishments both online and offline, and I was able to reconnect with old friends and hang out with some of my favorite local pals. It. Was. Awesome.
Here are a few fun photos from my Blogalicious Weekend experience:
And sure, the focus of teach mama is to provide parents with the tools and resources they need to be the best educators for their children, a lot of what I write about also focuses on parenting, so when I was invited to participate in Gain’s Wine and Reading party–Scentilicious at Blogalicious–I was particularly intrigued.
I loved that Gain wanted to celebrate the importance of individuality and uniqueness at Blogalicious, a conference weekend that celebrates the very same focus.
Gain explained:
From the clothes we wear to our signature scent, weโre all unique. Itโs important to have a variety of choices available so we can find that perfect outfit or that just right scent that fits our personality. Gain understands this and, therefore, offers a wide variety of scents in their detergent and fabric softener products so scent enthusiasts can find the one that is as unique as they are. . . . Since we know that the sense of smell is a powerful one and that scent can often enhance an occasion and make it stand out in our memories, Gain wants to help celebrate these special occasions along with the scents that played a role in defining them.
Though I wouldn’t consider myself quiet a ‘scent enthusiast’, I jumped at the chance to share a moment in my life that helped define who I am and an event that was enhanced by a particular scent. I loved that as participants read their pieces, that Gain would infuse the scent discussed into the room to allow the audience to experience each reading on a deeper sensorial level. Cool, right?
Here I am, reading my piece, which focused on Sweet, Sweet Springtime:
And that’s it for a short New For Us Friday but a really meaningful one.ย My first-ever Blogalicious Weekend which almost immediately preceded my first-ever Hallmark Event (cannot wait to share!), which almost immediately preceded the NAEYC Conference (which I cannot wait to share!), which almost immediately preceded my first-ever FOSI Conference (also cannot wait to share!).ย So much fun in so little time.

fyi: I attended Blogalicious Weekend sponsored by Melissa & Doug, making connections with tons of great people and celebrating the new partnership between Melissa & Doug and the we teach forum. ย In exchange for participating in Gain’s Wine and Reading Event, I was given a year’s worth of Gain detergent.ย
