Thank you to all who entered.  This giveaway closed 2/25/11; the winners were chosen via random.org and were notified.  Thank you!!

We are huge fans of the LeapFrog brand and products, and we’re big in love with Disney’s Tangled.   So when the two joined forces to create a LeapFrog Tangled Tag Reader book and Tangled Explorer game, my kids went batty.  Okay, and so did I.  Real, high-interest learning and a story and characters we love? Fabulous.

I’m thrilled that LeapFrog has given me one Tangled Tag Reader book and one Tangled Explorer game to give away to two separate teach mama readers!

After playing around with them for the last two weeks, Maddy, Owen, and Cora seem to have a pretty good feel for them. Here’s what we thought:

  • Tangled Book for Tag Reader: Cora is still using both the Tag Junior and Tag Reader, but we called this Tangled book ‘hers’ in an attempt to move her more officially to the Tag Reader.  She has ‘read’ it nearly every day during her rest time for two weeks straight.

Owen, Cora, and I opened the book together and went through it as a team. Owen showed Cora how to use the Tag (since the Junior is slightly different); he reminded her to touch all parts of the page because of the secrets you can find. They found songs, they found voices for characters, and they found games.

Cora loves ‘her’ Tangled for Tag Reader.

They learned about the phases of the moon and descriptive words, and they read and re-read a story they love about Rapunzel and silly Flynn.

Like all of our experiences with Tag Reader books, we were incredibly pleased with this one.

  • Tangled Game for the Leapster Explorer: Owen loves this. I mean looooves this game.  Granted, he’s a big fan of most games on the Explorer, but I’ll be completely honest when I say that on more than one occasion in the last two weeks, he reached for Tangled instead of NFL Rush Zone.

But the cool thing about Tangled for Explorer is that Maddy loves it, too. And so does Cora. It’s a game that teaches reading and spelling skills as kiddos move through the story. After each part that’s read, after each game that’s played, or challenge that’s attempted, kids ‘unlock’ different things that they can use to create pictures. Colors, brushes, backgrounds, and settings are ‘unlocked’ piece by piece, so kiddos want to play and want to learn so that they have more in their pockets for creating masterpieces. It’s very cool.

GIVEAWAYS: Tangled Tag Reader Book (just the book this time!) & Tangled Game for the Leapster Explorer

Do you want to win either the Tangled BOOK  for Tag Reader OR the Tangled GAME for the Leapster Exporer?

  • All you have to do is leave a comment here (with email address!) explaining which product you’d like to win (Tag book or Explorer game) and why.
  • For extra entries, you can share this post with a friend (just tell me who you shared it with!)  OR Tweet this: Win @LeapFrog Tangled book OR Tangled Explorer game at @teachmama — http://teachmama.com/?p=1355 #ece #literacy #giveaway

This contest ends on Friday, February 25, 2011 at midnight ET.

It’s no secret that our family loves the Tag Reader, Leapster Explorer, and the Leapster Camera and Video Recorder.  I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with LeapFrog, trying out products and sharing our completely honest thoughts and opinions.  This is an unsponsored post; our family was given the Tangled Tag book and Tangled for Explorer to try and LeapFrog will provide one Tangled Tag book and Tangled Explorer game for two separate teach mama readers.

Want to know what LeapFrog has coming down the road? (I did. . . ) Summer 2011: LeapPad Explorer.  Seriously! Just like the adult tablet but per LeapFrog style, durable, kid-friendly, and packed with learning opportunities! Stay tuned for news, reviews, and a giveaway! Wooot!

We’d like to have the Tangled game for the Leapster Explorer. My first grader got the game system for Christmas, but all of the children (6, 4, 2) play with it. We have 2 games for it, but have downloaded several things from their site. My oldest two love the Jewel Train games, Dice Ahoy, and the game that’s similar to Boggle (forgot the name…something soup or stew). My youngest just likes to watch the leapfrog videos we downloaded to it. I was worried before buying it, but it has turned out to be a great investment!

I would love to win the Tangled Explorer game for my son. He has had his Explorer since Christmas and loves it. Lately he has been playing the Doodleburg game and it has helped him tremendously with his fine motor skills. She now enjoys writing letters. I am so glad!!!! However, it is time for a new game and a new adventure.

With great sadness, I'm writing to share that my brother-in-law, Jeff Mascott passed away from pancreatic cancer earlier this week--at home, surrounded by family and friends.

The family is very grateful for the community's immeasurable help, encouragement, and prayers over the past several months since Jeff's diagnosis.

Jeff's obituary will run this weekend in the Post:

Today marks the 4th time in 3 weeks that I have had to hang new Kindness Reminders Tear-off Sheets!

Makes my heart 🥰!!

Some kids come by every day and give one to a new person. Others take a bunch for the week. One 2nd grade girl comes by evey morning to tell me who she gave hers to the day before.

Every little bit helps, friend. And every interaction matters!
