I must be a horrible mother.

I can’t say that I remember exactly the first time any of my children took their first steps. But if I check old calendars, I’m sure it’s there, probably with huge circles around the date and smiley faces or stars in the square.

I know that Maddy was around 11 months old, Owen closer to 10, and Cora, well, I know she was walking around at her first birthday party. My kiddos were early movers and shakers–running, riding, scooting, bouncing, swimming, jumping, and cartwheeling well before they were supposed to. I’m not bragging and certainly cannot take credit for their athletic prowess; I’m sure they get it from my husband, and I’m thankful.

But what I do know for sure is that whenever they were close to being ready to walk, I wanted their little feet to be equipped with the right shoes. So we would load our little family into the car and head for Stride Rite so our baby’s tiny feet could get measured and fitted, and then he or she would (try to) walk out of the store with the best shoes on the market.

Today, I’m super excited to share that teachmama readers have the opportunity to win a pair of Stride Rite’s latest and greatest shoe innovations.

Here’s your chance to get your little one started walking on the right foot. . .

  • Stride Rite Giveaway: Stride Rite is launching a new “Sensory Response Technology” for its new line of baby shoes. This SRT line of shoes actually improves the way a child learns to walk via a sensory feedback system, an ultra-flexible design that allows for more freedom of movement, and a unique construction that reduces the number of stumbles and falls. I’d say that’s giving a little one the right start, wouldn’t you?

The SRT’s features promote a healthy lifelong walking pattern and provide children:

  • a greater feel of the terrain;
  • more natural support;
  • freedom of movement;
  • more overall comfort;
  • a removable insole that helps Mom and Dad stay on top of proper sizing (I wish every child’s shoe had this!).

Available in toddler sizes 3 through 8 (including wide and medium), the SRT’s are available in four boys’ styles and seven girls’ styles, all of which are totally cute.

So how will this giveaway work? 5 winners will be chosen to receive one pair of SRT shoes, available in sizes 3 to 8 infant/ toddler (including medium and wide). Each pair is a retail value of $50.

In order to enter, readers must drop me a quick comment to let me know who in your life needs to try these new Stride Rite SRT’s AND fill out the following form: http://bit.ly/zb2Qb

The winners will be chosen by random.org, and the contest will end at midnight on September 28th.

    Great giveaway, and those shoes are cute!

    And I wouldn't worry about remembering your babies' first steps. There are a million tiny moments in their lives, and the point is to be present for them, not to freeze them.

    First, thank you for coming by my blog and for your sweet comment. I am looking into going through an alternative cert program to become a teacher, so your blog is of great interest to me!

    Second, I'd like to enter this giveaway! If I won, the shoes would go to my sister's almost 2-year-old. She has three girls all 5 and under, so they're always growing and a free pair of shoes would be most helpful!

    The baby of our family of 6 is now 10 mos old and just itchin' to walk. He's so proud of himself when he walks around holding on to my fingers, he nearly wiggles himself out of my grip with excitement!

    If not him, then his 15mo older sister is always looking for new shoes. She's a total shoe girl!

    Thanks for the fun drawing!

Hello, Teacher Wish List.

You are welcome here. In fact, we are incredibly glad that you’ve made your way into our culture.

You’re like the Wedding Registry or Baby Registry–but better.

You are a dream because you are the list that gives and gives and gives. You’re not full of weird kitchen appliances or ugly China patterns or tiny baby Air Jordans. You are made of books, pens, pencils, journals, math manipulatives, bulletin board letters, lab goggles, staplers, and hole punchers.

You are helping to equip and educate the youth of the world and are taking a tiny bit of stress off of the shoulders of our educators. And we all know that our educators–especially in the last few years–have been stretched to the absolute max. They are tired, worn down, and stepped on. They’re pushed and pulled every which way and are expected to do the job of 27 different people.

What an amazing thing you are, you little Classroom Wish List! Just a simple Amazon Wish List, you let us all feel like we are helping in a teeny way, and we thank you.

We hope you never, ever leave and that you’re here to stay.

Sincerely,

Everyone

WHAT. A. YEAR!

The @advancementcourses teACh Team has ROCKED it again this year, and I am so glad that you’ve been along for the ride!

Every few weeks, we connected on Facebook or IG Lives, and we discussed:

✔️ what makes Professional Development most effective;

✔️ school administrators and teachers leading post-pandemic;

✔️ our current top picks for children’s books;

✔️supporting students who have experienced trauma;

✔️ culturally responsive classrooms and components of special education;

✔️ school and district-wide Professional Development options with Advancement Courses.

It’s been a BLAST—and though our core team includes @teaching3rdwithmrg @techninjatodd @topdogteaching and me, we have also had guests like @stopparentingalone @laliquin @lisa.lightner.ig and more!

Please tell us your fave topics and what you would like to see more of next year!
