Here’s something I stole from some super-smart parent somewhere out there. I think it’s worth sharing because my kiddos love, love, love this part of our every day:
- Days of the week: Months ago, I picked up the most inexpensive pill boxes from our local pharmacy in an attempt to get my little ones more on-track with the days of the week. The pill boxes have a M, T, W, Th, F, Sa, Su on top of the flaps, and each child has his/ her very own labeled pill box. Inside each box, I put a vitamin for Maddy and Owen (only 1/2 for him because of his age), and a Cheerio inside for Cora (until she’s old enough for a vitamin). Everyone looks forward this part of breakfast time, and it reinforces their learning of the days of the week (and makes sure I remember to distribute vitamins!). Taking a vitamin and talking about the day has become part of our morning ritual, like hunting for the day’s weather and discussing the pictures in the Kids’ Post.
It’s pretty simple, but it’s still a way to put a little bit of learning into our every day.
