I’m thrilled to be partnering with Advancement Courses, a leader in K-12 professional development with over 240 online courses in 20 different subject areas.

advancement courses teACh team

Many of you know that for the last few years, I have been working closely with Advancement Courses and some of the country’s most influential educators to share topics that matter most to teachers. We’re excited to announce that the partnership is continuing and is growing stronger than ever!

The teACh Team consists of three rock-star educators (and me!) who connect regularly to talk about issues relevant to busy educators. We can also speak to the value of the professional development that Advancement Courses offers, with over 240 online courses in 20 different subject areas. Take them anywhere, anytime for up to 6 months for either graduate or continuing education credit.

Meet the 2020 Advancement Courses teACh Team

I’ll be working with several of the best of the best educational influencers to shed some light on why we totally turn to Advancement Courses for our own professional development and continuing education.

MEET Kayla Dornfeld, of Top Dog Teaching

Kayla Dornfeld is the 2019 North Dakota Teacher of the Year, and Mrs. West Fargo International.  She has 13 years of teaching experience in second and third grade. Kayla holds her masterโ€™s degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Dakota. Her work with classroom redesign and flexible seating has become the standard worldwide. She is currently writing a book about classroom learning spaces and flexible seating, titled FlexED: Flexible Seating for Flexible Learners, set to be released later this year. Read more about Kayla here.

You can connect with Kayla on all social media platforms @topdogteaching, and her student led social media accounts @topdogkids.

MEET Todd Nesloney, Tech Ninja Todd

Todd is passionate about education and innovation. Todd was a classroom teacher for 7 years before taking the leap straight from classroom teacher to campus principal in Navasota, Texas. Todd took over a struggling campus, brought in a brand new staff, and used his creative ideas to transform a campus. Todd Nesloney is now the Director of Culture and Strategic Leadership at the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA). He is an award winning author for his work in co-authoring Kids Deserve It! and Sparks in the Dark. Read more about Todd here.

You can connect with Todd on social:

Meet Greg Smedley-Warren, Kindergarten Smorgasboard

Greg has been teaching for 15 years. He spent a year teaching fifth grade, two years in second grade and is now in his 12th year in Kindergarten, which he has determined is his calling and his passion. He plans to never leave the classroom as the kids are what drive him to continue his growth as a teacher and person. When Gregโ€™s not in the classroom he enjoys blogging and doing all things teach. He also values spending time with his husband, daughter, Adelynn, and dog, Butters. His husband (known as The Mister online) is a large part of his blog, social media, and their conference, ELEVATE. With great sadness, I'm writing to share that my brother-in-law, Jeff Mascott passed away from pancreatic cancer earlier this week--at home, surrounded by family and friends.

The family is very grateful for the community's immeasurable help, encouragement, and prayers over the past several months since Jeff's diagnosis.

Jeff's obituary will run this weekend in the Post:

Today marks the 4th time in 3 weeks that I have had to hang new Kindness Reminders Tear-off Sheets!

Makes my heart ๐Ÿฅฐ!!

Some kids come by every day and give one to a new person. Others take a bunch for the week. One 2nd grade girl comes by evey morning to tell me who she gave hers to the day before.

Every little bit helps, friend. And every interaction matters!
