teachmama gift guide toddlers | smart products for smart families

Best gifts for kids and families, 2015.

The post that takes me literally all year long to write.

It’s theย list of all lists, and it’s the most emailed, shared, and promoted post each year.

It’s finally here, my friends.

And I am totally excited.

However, I had to break it up because the post was becoming SO big and so long that even I was getting tired of looking at it.

Here’s the skinny. . .

Best Gifts forย Toddlers–Must-Have Presents for Our Little Ones, 2015:

Remember to definitely checkย out the previous years’ posts–just because a year has passed doesn’t mean that the gifts we recommended aren’t still awesome!

This guide is geared toward our littlest loves–our babies through about age four. Give or take.

Click on the image or click on the link; they’ll both take you where you can quickly grab the product, and we even found a few great deals for you.

Many of the links are affiliate links, meaning if you purchase the item, teachmama.com gets a teeny, tiny percentage of the sale which helps us keep this website and all of its resources free for everyone. Yay!ย

Fish and Count Learning Game: I love that this plush toy includes a teeny fishing rod and little fish. And numbers and letters and textures and totally cool ways to incorporate language and hand-eye coordination.

Hand Puppets — Farm Friends, Palace Pals, Zoo Friends, and Jolly Helpers Hand Puppets: These. Are. Adorable. Perfectly sized for little hands and each set cuter than the next.

***

Tabletop Puppet Theater: You’ve seen this before, but honestly, it’s too cute to pass up. This is a smaller, more manageable version of the Deluxe Puppet Theater–and I truly think it’s a super size for any home.

Play All Day Elmo: Two modes of play–toddler and preschool–and this Elmo will keep your kids talking, moving, singing and learning. Super cute and surprisingly cozy!

***

Sort & Swipe Wooden Cash Register: Kids love cash registers. ย This one is a wooden register with plastic parts that really work well. Kids will love this, and the learning extensions are many.

Puzzles: Deluxeย Latches Board, Locks & Latches Board, and Latches Boardย are some of our favorite puzzles. They all get kids’ attention with their flashy gold of the locks and latches.

***

Lock and Roll Rescue Garage:ย My 2 year old nephew loves this. Loves this. Loves this. And (shhhhh!) so do I.

Wooden Doorbell House: A tiny little house with a doorbell and working doors with locks, little dolls and a carry handle. It’s super fun for our littles.

Radio Flyer Tricycle: This is the ideal starter tricycle for kids; it’s sturdy and solid, and it’s the kind of trike that has a handle on the back so parents can steer while kids try to pedal.

***

Koala Crate: For kids ages 3-4, Koala Crate is a monthly subscription where everything you need for one fun craft or activity comes in a happy little box. We have loooooved our crates this year; Maddy and Owen received Tinker Crates, and Cora received Doodle Crates.ย EXCLUSIVE Black Friday Preview – Subscription!ย Get 60% off first month subscriptions with code SUB60: Get me that deal!

My Pretend Place: Pretend play is so important for our kids’ development, and My Pretend Place knows it! You can purchase pretend play packages, costumes, accessories, decorate-your-own-playhouses–even a monthly My Pretend Place subscription where kids will get one fun box o’ pretend gear each month! ย EXCLUSIVE DEAL: 20% off your first My Pretend Place subscription box!

Mabel’s Labels: Kids love seeing their name on things, so why not get a few name labels for your little love? EXCLUSIVE DEAL:ย Get 25% Off the Stocking Stuffer Combo until 11/22/15.ย

I am so very, very, very excited about these items, and I think you will be, too.

My favorite little spot to lay out the mat = โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿงœ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Use an emoji to tell me yours.

remember: it doesnโ€™t matter what you do as long as you move your body in some way each day. Total game changer. Promise.

For me, walking the ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿถ and ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธare daily non-negotiables for my physical AND mental health.

I do the @melissawoodhealth videos each day, and her upbeat, casual attitude, variety of low-impact strengthening workouts, and reminders to just keep coming back are key.

This book is SO different from any other I have read in the recent past, and itโ€™s something that is both refreshing and hopeful.

My friend @techninjatodd wanted to put out a book that would be a source of hope, a reminder that we are not alone. A testament to the fact that every season of life matters.

And so, In This Season: Words From the Heart was born, with help from the amazing @apron_education @allylee21 @writtentospeak @omar2764

โ„๏ธโ„๏ธโ„๏ธโ„๏ธ

Life is full of seasons.

Each of us has endured the cold of winter, the growth of spring, the light of summer, and the change of fall. Weโ€™ve climbed to the mountaintops and been deep in the valley.

In This Season: Words for the Heart takes the emotions we feel deep within and puts them into words. The pages of this book invite you to reflect and lean in as you continue through season after season.

๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ

Check this book out, friends. It is worth your time, and it is the perfect book for busy educators to pick up, read a few pages over a quick cup of coffee before the day begins or as you kick up your feet at the end of the day.

It feels like a quiet conversation with a close friend or dear colleague. Important topics are touched on which remind us that our feelings and thoughts and insecurities are often not as unusual as we may think. Rather, these ups and downs of life are a shared experience that couldโ€”and should!โ€”be shared more frequently and openly. The reminder that we are not alone could not come at a more pivotal time for all of us; in the past two years, we have been reminded that life is short but that seasons change. Letโ€™s make the most of what we have!

Thank you, Todd, LaNesha, Tanner, and Alice for starting this conversation.

โ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

And do follow these great writers, educators, and thought leaders.

We have a gun violence crisis in America that kills more than 110 people each day, and itโ€™s past time that the U.S. Senate does something about it.
